More than 1 in 3 households in Massachusetts is experiencing food insecurity; rates soared from 19% in 2019 to 37% in 2024.
These increases reflect challenges such as rising food and housing costs, as well as shifts in federal support programs.
In 2024, Black and Latinx households faced the highest rates of food insecurity at 46% and 62%, respectively.
