Art on the Farm: Call for Submissions
Calling all artists! If you love to paint, draw, collage, or take photos, we want to showcase your creativity on the farm.
Gaining Ground is hosting Art on the Farm—an outdoor installation of artwork along a walking route through our fields and beds—beginning September 10, 2022, and ending October 31, 2022. Pieces will be displayed along a self-guided path, accompanied by information about the farm’s no-till practices, food insecurity, and hunger relief.
Gaining Ground will install weather-resistant digital reproductions of the works throughout the farm. Due to space limitations, not all submissions will be included in the final installation. However, all pieces will be included in an online brochure, identifying each artist and containing a brief statement about the work.
Artists of all ages are encouraged to submit an entry to participate in the exhibit. We are looking for work that reflects the farm’s mission: building community through the work of growing nutritious food for people experiencing food insecurity. Works may reflect any aspect of nature, farming, and/or food insecurity: farms, seeds, plants, wildlife, fruits and vegetables, landscapes. For inclusion in Art on The Farm, submissions must be two-dimensional art (paintings, photographs, collage works, etc.), which will then be reproduced on water-proof panels that will be placed along the ramble path.
Submissions of work may be by delivery of the original piece to Gaining Ground at 341 Virginia Road in Concord. We will scan and digitize the work and the original art will then be returned to the artist. Dimensions should be no larger than 12” x 16”. Submissions may also be sent by email to art@gainingground.org. Digital submissions should be sent as a .JPEG, .PDF or .HEIC file. Artists should include a brief description of the work. The submission deadline is August 21, 2022.
