Learn About Gaining Ground Inside and Out

Have you ever wondered how Gaining Ground grows so much food on such a small piece of land?

Do you have questions about how our produce reaches local individuals and families experiencing food insecurity?

Would you like to learn how Gaining Ground organically manages pests and weeds to maximize yields?

We have a great opportunity coming up for you to have all of your questions answered! Join our farm education manager on an educational tour of Gaining Ground. On this tour you will be guided through three acres of vegetable fields, greenhouses, and farm structures to enjoy the sights and sounds of a diversity of wildlife, observe over 50 varieties of vegetables, herbs, and flowers growing, and engage in conversation about Gaining Ground’s role in hunger relief.

We will share how our farm makes decisions to fill the nutritional needs of our neighbors experiencing food insecurity, while respecting the land and environment around us. Visitors will learn the ins-and-outs of Gaining Ground’s complex farm-to-food pantry operation through demonstrations, educational pit-stops, and a Q&A with our Farm Education Manager, Erin. This tour is designed for folks aged 16 and up.

The tour will take place Thursday, July 29, from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Please is limited, so please RSVP to attend. We will begin promptly at 6:00 p.m.
