Submissions Open for Photography on the Farm
Submissions are now open for Photography on the Farm!
This special outdoor gallery at Gaining Ground opens September 7 to showcase the creative talents of our community while providing visitors with the latest information on food security.
In the meantime, we seek original, digital images that reflect some aspect of farming, gardening, nourishment, cultural foodways, or food and climate justice.
Artists of all ages, from anywhere, may participate!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What kind of photographs will you consider? We seek photographs that reflect some aspect of farming, gardening, local food systems, or hunger relief. Photographs may be color or black and white, analog or digital. All works must be two-dimensional.
How does it work? Select photographs will be printed on weather-resistant boards and installed on the farm, interspersed with information about food security in the region, no-till agriculture, and the hunger relief movement we’re proud to be part of.
Is this a contest? What will I win? No, Photography on the Farm is not juried or judged, except that—based on the volume of submissions—we may need to limit the number of images printed for the physical gallery. Your photo will still be included in a digital version of the gallery!
Will my image be cropped depending on the ratio? We rarely have to alter images for print. In the uncommon circumstance that we do, someone from our team would contact you to discuss.
What happens with my photo after the installation? After the exhibit, artists featured in the physical gallery will have the opportunity to collect their photo boards. More details to come. We cannot ship boards.
How else will you use my image? Unless you request otherwise, we may use your photograph to promote the event online (newsletter, website, social media). Your photo will always appear with credit to you. You will never lose the right to your photo. Your image may also be included in a digital companion to the gallery, alongside your name, the title of your photograph, and the brief description you provide.
How much does it cost to submit a photograph, and will you make any money from my work? There is no cost to participate in Photography on the Farm, as an artist or visitor! We will never sell your work, online or in print.
