Each year, Gaining Ground relies on many members of our community to help fund our mission. Through the generosity of individuals, corporations, and foundations, we are able to raise $350,00 to support all operations. While we would like to devote an entire story to each of our donors, here we are highlighting these two organizations whose support has made a tremendous impact.
Whole Foods Bedford
This past summer, Whole Foods in Bedford chose Gaining Ground as the recipient of their five per-cent day. According to Whole Foods, “Five percent days are a day-long, in-store event that support local organizations that align with our mission. Five percent of sales from that day are then donated to the organization.” We were thrilled to spend the day at Whole Foods sharing our story with customers while thanking them for their support.
Concord-Carlisle Community Chest
For over 15 years, Gaining Ground has received support from the Concord-Carlisle Community Chest (C- CCC), whose annual grants support human service agencies in Concord and Carlisle. The C- CCC grant program is unique because it depends on a grant allocations committee, comprised of 32 volunteer community members and board members who perform due diligence by reviewing applications and conducting site visits and interviews. In 2015–2016, they awarded $570,000 to 30 local programs. The C- CCC helps to fund Gaining Ground’s Food for Families program, which serves members of the Concord-Carlisle community with weekly food distributions to those members of our community in need. Each week, approximately 40 families receive our fresh produce through this program. We are very grateful for the long-standing partnership with the Community Chest.
